Flight to Germany

We had a nice flight over to Germany and then stayed one night at the 64th Replacement Company near Frankfurt.  The Army put us up in a nice little 2 bedroom apartment overnight when we landed.  It was a rainy day when we arrived and it rained the next day, which was perfect for getting some sleep and trying to get rid of the jet lag.  It was Collin's first international flight (he earned his first wings a long time ago) and he did great.  He especially loved the takeoff and the landings.

He had a little suitcase full of his Thomas the Tank Engine trains and tracks that he proudly pulled around the airports.

Gotta love laptops for those long layovers.  Wireless internet *and* childrens DVD movie player.

Here's Collin with his trusty Teddy!

He was fascinated by the baggage and it took constant watching to keep him from climbing onto the conveyer!

"What?  I wasn't going to climb up there."

Here we were on the bus from the airport in Frankfurt to the 64th Replacement company.  He was thrilled to ride without a car seat and he saw lots of trains along the way.

There was a park behind our apartment at the replacment company.  Once we got settled in we took Collin out to play despite the rain.

There were rabbits everywhere!!  There must have been at least 30 around the park, with rabbit holes all over the place.  Collin was trying to catch one, but of course, he never stood a chance.

One of them did fall into this big silver bowl-like thing near the basketball court and was trapped in there because the sides were too slippery from the rain.  I wanted to "save it" for Collin's sake, hoping that the little rodent wouldn't bite me.  I took off my sweatshirt to throw over it and wrap it up to bring it out, but as soon as I swung one arm of the shirt down toward it, I scared the bunny crap out of it and it leaped for it's life right out of the bowl, making me a hero anyway!

There was this cool little zip line that went from one structure to the main structure and Collin was brave enough to ride it by himself once I got him up on the seat.  Malisa and I went across as well, but when Collin and I went across together, we just ended up eating sand.  We had a good time, then went back up to get a long night of sleep before heading to Ansbach/Katterbach the next day.
