Malisa, Collin and I went down to Virginia Beach for Mother's Day weekend and to spend a little vacation time before heading off to Germany. We were there for a few days and then drove down to North Carolina to pick up my motorcycle and trailer from storage.
We dropped in unannounced and went to surprise Mom-mom around lunchtime after driving overnight. (We slept in the car on the New Jersey turnpike for a couple hours and Collin started crying and said "I wanna sleep in a building!")
The next day we spent a couple hours at the beach, building sandcastles and just relaxing in the waves. While we were walking along the beach in the morning, it was pretty awesome because we saw about 5 dolphins swimming and jumping about 30 feet from the shore and then we saw them again later on.
Collin lost interest in the castle building pretty quickly, but I was inspired to build some super-structure that I *thought* was far enough from the waves to be safe.....I was wrong.
Hard work gone to waste! I was sad.....
We went back over to Dad's house where Collin and Dad (Pop) had another great afternoon of playing with worms and pinecones.
We had fun playing with the garden hose...Here's Collin filling up one of the bird baths in Mom-mom's garden.
We finally got down to North Carolina where we picked up the motorcycle and trailer from our household goods storage (now on it's way to Deutschland) so we could pull it up to Massachusetts. Once we got there and Collin actually saw it, he couldn't control his excitement and started crawling all over it. I suddenly became the coolest dad ever. The boy could not stop smiling!
We had to head out right away because of the long drive, but we stopped for lunch along I-95 and met up with Jenn Temple. We had a great visit and Collin decided to try on the helmet and show off his muscles a bit.
We had a long drive home after that which was pretty uneventful except that I had a fuse blow which stopped my interior lights from working....easily fixed, but when we tried to stop for the night, all the hotels along 95 were completely booked because of bike week, so we were forced to rest in the car once again. Everybody was so tired this time that we didn't really care.
