Last week two of my soldiers got promoted. Private First Class Ussery was promoted to Specialist and my KATUSA soldier Corporal Shin was promoted to Sergeant. We have a special tradition here among the medics of 1/38 Field Artillery. When one of our own gets promoted, it's tradition to do 50 pushups in front of the formation immediately afterward and then the other medics come up and pour water on the newly promoted guys.
One of the soldiers from S1 (Personnel) was also getting promoted, and I guess their tradition is to spray shaving cream all over them, which got carried away and onto the medics. Well...an opportunity couldn't be passed up...so poor Ussery got a little messy...
Later that night, we said goodbye to some great medics that are leaving soon. We're losing 5 medics and myself from 1/38 and one from HHB Fires Brigade.
They are:
SPC Matthew "Skanky" Schenck
SPC David "Ursoscoles" Ussery
SPC Daniel "Youngalingus" Young
PFC Ken "KSB" Kessel
SPC James "Shameron" Cameron
and from HHB SPC Jamie "BooBoo" Boggs
and of course myself 1LT James "Doc Drewz" Andrews
I only have a few pictures from the farewell, here's SPC Young...
And here's Ussery..
And here I am getting my plaque presented from Captain (Now Major) Beseman, the Brigade Surgeon.
I'd just like to thank all the medics for doing such a great job and making my year in Korea so much better. We definitely had a good time and I'd go to the fight with you anytime.
