The company that makes the Playmobil toys has a Playmobil theme park about 20 minutes from our house, just outside of Nuremberg. It's a very cool place, and it focuses on lots of fun stuff for kids aged 2-12. Collin had a blast and we had just as much fun taking him all around and playing with stuff ourselves.
Here he is, ready to go. He packed some warm clothes and stuff to do in the car in his little backpack.
At the entrance to the park...
As usual, I think he's admiring the girls more than anything else...
Scurvy Pirates!!
They had some really fun slides! He went down all of them over and over and even convinced Malisa and I to go down with him. They were FAST...oddly though, he still only likes to go feet first while in the prone position.
Climbing up the ropes to get to the 3rd slide....talk about talent, who else could walk a rope bridge in heels?
The Pirate Ship! You could even walk the plank once you got on it. It was too cold for us to be getting in the water though.
Talking about walking the little bridge to get to the ship. We decided to do it together.
After taking the helm and working the rudder, now he's a Pirate Captain. King of the Scurvy Dogs, Arrrrrr
Checking out the view...
...and the treasure map...
The view from below deck...not bad!
We left the ship, crossed the bridge and moved on to more fun...
Collin and Mommy
We passed an Indian (Native American) village on the way back toward the big indoor place where they had lots of toys (and LUNCH).
Inside, they had every toy that Playmobil makes scattered across the floors in different themes and it was just a free for all playgroup the size of 2 football fields. Additionally, they had a lot more slides and ropes and stuff to climb on. And for the parents? BEER!!! I love this country.
After lunch, we moved on to a different part of the park where they had a castle for the kids to climb around in, or literally climb up the side of if they wanted. There's no shortage of risk for the daring. See the climbing holds on the side of the wall?
Collin sat on the throne, King for the day...he issued two rules of course. He gets presents for Christmas and Don't touch the walls.
Is Collin mooning the camera?!
We moved on and found a water table full of boats and other water toys...the water table was probably about 500-600 feet long and turned and twisted all around.
Got a little wet...
Found some stuff that was beyond Collin's climbing ability...
We moved on and found a little farm area. They had horses that you could brush down and little cows that you could "milk".
Working the farm trough...
After the farm, we arrived at an Old West town where you could pan for toys, mine and ride bulls and horses.
The weather was too cold for getting wet really, but there were many opportunities for it if you were dressed right.
We put in a full day at Playmobil, then headed into Nuremburg to go to Toys 'R Us because we promised Collin a new Thomas the Tank Engine since he lost his original one.
We've been trying to potty train him and have been making excellent progress. We made a "poopy chart" with some colored squares pasted to a white background. On the bottom of the page are pictures of Thomas and Lightning McQueen to remind him of the reward. Every time he goes on the toilet, he gets a sticker, then he can put the sticker on one of his colored squares. When he gets 5, he gets to go to Toys 'R Us. (We let him do 3 the first time, but I quickly realized that I was going to go broke if we kept that up at 14 Euros per toy train!). So anyway, he had done his 3 squares, and we had promised him a new train, so we did a combo trip and he had a very memorable day.
